Cardinals

Less than a day after we arrived at our new house, Nathanael discovered a nest in the rhododenron bush next to the library window. There were eggs in it. Two days later there were baby birds in it. Those baby birds have learned to fly and left the nest. The nest is currently unused and partially destroyed.

The cardinals have raised their family in less time than it has taken me to unpack. I am so glad I have more time to spend with my children than they do. And that I can spend some of that time watching baby birds grow up.

Wow. I didn't realize that the process was so quick!

I'm glad I have more time with my kids, too. And I'm glad I don't have to "share" my food to feed them. ;)

It seems so much more efficient than 18 years of joy and pain. . .
